Adoptable Cats

Adoption Process:

The most important step in the adoption process comes before even visiting the shelter–making sure you are ready to adopt an animal. A pet is a lifelong commitment. Cats can live 14-18 years, with longer lives indoors. Are you ready to care and provide for your future companion for that length of time?

Kittens are adorable and we love them all. When considering adoption, they are the biggest commitment in terms of time, energy, and patience for pet owners. Older animals will more readily show their quirks, preference, and personality, and often have a simpler care routine.

Pictures can never do an animal justice. Please come into the shelter and take your time to meet the animals, and you may find an amazing match!

How to Adopt
Adoption and viewing hours are from 1:00-4:30pm, 7 days a week. Come to the Lakeland Humane Society and complete an adoption application form when you are ready to adopt. You can speed up the process if you complete your application before coming in to adopt.

We will review your application, and if you are approved, we will contact you to continue the application process.

Adoption applications must be started no later than 4:00pm. Adoption takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. We do not hold cats for adoption. We do not adopt cats as gifts for people who are absent. Adoptions are approved on a first-come basis for suitable homes, and requirements will vary based on the cat.
