Adoptable Dogs

Adoption Process:

The most important step in the adoption process comes before even visiting the shelter–making sure you are ready to adopt a dog. A pet is a lifelong commitment. Dogs easily live from 10-18 years. Are you ready to care and provide for your future companion for that length of time?

Puppies are adorable and we love them all. When considering adoption, they are the biggest commitment in terms of time, energy, and patience for pet owners. Older animals will more readily show their quirks, preference, and personality, and often have a simpler care routine.

Pictures can never do an animal justice. Please come into the shelter and take your time to meet the animals, and you may find an amazing match!

How to Adopt
Adoption and viewing hours are from 1:00-4:30pm, 7 days a week. Come to the Lakeland Humane Society and complete an adoption application form when you are ready to adopt. You can speed up the process if you complete your application before coming in to adopt.

For any dog adoptions, all members of the household must meet a dog before we can approve an application. Any people or dogs in the house can meet the dogs of your choice in our exercise pen under supervision to make sure there is a good fit. Please do bring your dogs and family to meet our dogs when you want to adopt!

We will review your application and if you are approved, you will contact you to continue the adoption process.
