Services We Provide

Things we do:

  • We provide a safe haven for lost, injured, sick, orphaned, abandoned, abused, neglected, and unwanted companion animals in the Lakeland area*.
  • We have a website and utilize social media to provide information about the LHS, advertise adoptable animals, and provide information to reunite stray animals with their owners.
  • Adoption services for the animals that have not been claimed or have been surrendered to us.
  • Humane euthanasia for un-adoptable animals
  • Humane Education Programs
  • Spay/Neuter Program for all adopted dogs & cats
  • Microchip Identification Program – all cats and dogs adopted are microchipped as a permanent form of identification
  • Vaccination Program
  • A place where community service hours can be completed.
  • Utilization of many volunteers from all walks of life.
  • Participate in work programs such as STEP.
  • School and group tours
  • Resource Centre for animal related information
  • Direct many calls to the correct agencies.

Things we do not do:

The Lakeland Humane society does not handle Animal Control, Cruelty or the Enforcement of Animal Protection Laws. Please contact one of the agencies below for these matters.

When Finding Stray Animals:

For stray animals found within the City of Cold Lake, please contact local Bylaw Officers for assistance. The Lakeland Humane Society does not provide animal control and can not pick up animals.

* – For stray animals found outside of city limits, please contact the appropriate local animal control authorities before taking any animal. Stray animals found outside of the City of Cold Lake (such as in the M.D. of Bonnyville) require special approval for admission, and may not be admissible at the LHS.
