Animals may end up at a shelter for a number of reasons through no fault of their own. Stray, abandoned, neglected, and unexpected pets often end up at animal shelters when they have no where else to go. Countless unplanned or unwanted litters of dogs and cats are born due to gaps in spaying and neutering. Each year millions of healthy homeless animals across Canada and the United States are euthanized simply due to a lack of homes.
When you adopt a homeless animal, you can be the home that makes a difference. By opting to adopt you are giving an animal a new lease on life and working towards ending animal neglect and overpopulation.
The Lakeland Humane Society is a safe haven for homeless animals in the Lakeland region. All adoptable animals have a caring home at the LHS until they become adopted--whether that takes days, weeks, months, or years.
Our Adoption and Viewing Hours are:
1:00pm to 4:30pm* - 7 Days a Week!
Adoption paperwork/processing can take approximately 30-45 minutes. Adoptions must be started no later than 4:00p.m. on any given day. All of the animals need time to get settled in to bed for the night. If you're late, we are open 7 days a week for adoptions.
